Jane Blackwood

OUR TEAM
I have practised exclusively in family law since qualifying in 2010.
I am accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Family Law and as a Family Law Mediator.
I have experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce and separation, financial provision on divorce, cohabitation and child residence and contact issues, including relocation. I also deal with the negotiation and preparation of pre and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.
I regularly appear in the Sheriff Court in cases involving the welfare of children and financial matters following separation. I also have experience in dealing with cases in the Court of Session involving high net worth and more complex matters.
Where possible, I will always aim to resolve matters by negotiation and I regularly deal with such cases. I advise clients of the legal options available to them, taking account of their individual circumstances at an emotionally difficult time. I take pride in dealing with my clients efficiently and with empathy.
I am trained in collaborative practice and I am a member of Consensus Scotland, CALM and the Family Law Association. I am also a tutor on the Family Law Elective on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Strathclyde.
The Legal 500 ranks Jane as a “Recommended Lawyer” in Family.
