Featuring in today’s Times, I’m very proud to have led our team of agriculture and rural affairs specialists in advising The Langholm Initiative, in the successful buyout of 5,300 acres of moorland for nature restoration and preservation.
It has been a privilege to support the Langholm team, whose vision to transform and protect Scotland’s natural capital, is a blueprint for community groups all over the country.
Community groups are at the heart of land stewardship and management in Scotland. They play a vital role in understanding what is important at a local level, and can harness the expertise and resource to ensure our natural capital benefits everyone.
Harper Macleod has helped more than 30 community groups to acquire around 25,000 acres of land as part of community buyouts. These groups range from the south of Scotland to North Sutherland in the Highlands.
