A recent report by the Offshore Wind Industry Council (OWIC) suggests the number of people working in Scotland’s offshore wind industry is set to surge to nearly 100,000 by 2030 – driven mainly by ScotWind, the major leasing round by Crown Estate Scotland. The sector currently employs around 31,000 people

The report also suggests the sector is likely to see around £155bn worth of private investment over the next 10 years.

Increased investment, job creation and technological innovation can only be welcomed.

There is a major opportunity for Scotland to benefit from this growth and investment, not least in our ports and harbours, but the communities and supply chains which support the related industries.
