OUR TEAM
I have specialised in Family Law for the majority of my career and am accredited by the Law Society of Scotland in Family Law, Child Law and Family Mediation.
I enjoy helping my clients to move through what is often a difficult, stressful situation towards a more positive future. Not all cases are straightforward. I strive to enable clients to choose the process which is most appropriate to them. Where court work is necessary I will always aim to conduct it efficiently with good judgment, always mindful of financial and emotional costs.
My practice is wide-ranging. I am experienced in complex high value financial provision cases, both in the Court of Session and Sheriff Courts. I take pride and satisfaction in children’s cases including those involving relocation of children, residence and contact.
In 2016, I launched Harper Macleod’s Modern Families Initiative which aims to assist clients create families whether that be via adoption, donor conception or surrogacy. The law around parental rights is nuanced and the legislation can be daunting. Finding a knowledgeable, experienced and supportive advisor is important. I enjoy assisting my clients in their journey, navigating our system of child law and fertility law in as straightforward a manner as possible.
I am regularly invited to speak at professional conferences. I often contribute to professional publications including Green’s Family Law Bulletin and the Journal of the Law Society of Scotland.
I attended Elgin Academy, completing a degree in English and Philosophy at Edinburgh University and Dartmouth College in the United States, before completing my LLB and diploma to enable me to practise Family Law.
I hold the COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland) Certificate in Counselling skills, which has proved invaluable in supporting clients.
