Work experience at Harper Macleod
Work experience is a great way to gain some important insights if you are thinking about a legal career.
Harper Macleod’s work experience programme gives you exposure to what life is like in a law firm, as well as opportunities to hear from professionals at different stages of their careers. It can also help with your CVs and personal statements if you are applying for university, college, training or work after you leave school, even if law is not what you end up applying for.
Harper Macleod runs a three-day virtual work experience programme for S5 and S6 school pupils three times a year in February, June and November.
The dates for our 2025 experiences are:
- February 25th to 27th
- June 3rd to 5th
- November 11th to 13th
Our programme allows pupils from all over Scotland to come together and explore what a career in law might look like. We delve into what working in the legal profession in Scotland entails on a day-to-day basis, with qualified lawyers from across Harper Macleod talking about what they do and how they got there. Attendees will explore various areas of the law, taking part in debates, negotiations, Will writing and understanding the impact they can have as a Scottish solicitor.
Our experience concludes with our trainee solicitors offering their insights on their journey from school to university to the workplace.
