Harper Macleod is teaming up with Scottish ClubSport, the umbrella organisation for local sports councils and ClubSport networks across Scotland.
The firm will be the headline partner for Scottish ClubSport’s Annual Conference next month, the title for which is “Championing Community Sport”.
Harper Macleod’s support of Scottish ClubSport complements the firm’s ongoing commitment to community and grassroots sports participation. The firm has longstanding relationships with Glasgow Warriors and Highland Rugby Club. Earlier this year it supported the Shetland Island Games Association at the NatWest International Island Games on Guernsey.
Harper Macleod is appointed by sportscotland as the sole legal adviser on its expert resource framework, offering extensive legal support for Scottish sports governing bodies. It was the official legal adviser to the Glasgow 2018 European Championships and 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Deborah Rookes and Andrew Maxwell are associates in the firm’s sports team, and will address the conference on the latest legislative insights concerning sports bodies such as the Fair Work First pledge, safeguarding & wellbeing, and trans inclusion.
Deborah said:
“Fairness, opportunity and community are all qualities which come from sports participation. Sport and sports clubs are integral parts of local communities, promoting health & wellbeing and inclusion. More often than not, sports clubs rely on the goodwill of volunteers who dedicate their free time to the sport they love and their communities.”
Andrew said: “We’re very proud to play our part in grassroots sport by being able to advise on important legal matters which means these clubs can continue to deliver such vital community services.”
We are delighted to welcome Harper Macleod as Headline Partner of the SCS Conference for a 3rd year. With their support and input, we are better able to bring our members and wider sports network together and to Champion Community Sport in Scotland
